In plain English

Jisc is setting up a framework agreement (called a DPS) to make it easier for universities and research organisations to buy electronic lab notebook software. They want to create a pre-approved list of suppliers so their customers can quickly purchase these digital tools without running a full tender each time.

What the buyer wants

• Supply or provide Electronic Research and Laboratory Notebook (ERN) software solutions that replace paper lab notebooks • Meet technical and value-for-money standards set by Jisc • Be listed on the DPS framework so customers can call you off to provide these solutions • Comply with any terms in the RTP (Request to Participate) document

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

This is a software and technology contract, not a trade services contract. Small builders, electricians, plumbers, cleaners, and other tradespersons cannot bid unless they are software developers or IT service providers specialising in laboratory information management systems.

How to bid

This is a Dynamic Purchasing System: an open list of approved suppliers. You can apply to join at any time while it runs, and once accepted you can bid for the individual contracts the buyer runs through it.
