In plain English
Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wants to set up a framework agreement, which is a pre-approved list of contractors, for minor, small and medium building works across its own sites and any other named participating authority. The framework runs for 12 months with an option to extend by a further 12 months, and the estimated total value is £40,000,000.
What the buyer wants
• Work across five lots: Electrical (£1 to £50,000), Flooring (£1 to £50,000), Minor/Reactive Works (£1 to £50,000), Minor/Small Planned Works (£50,001 to £350,000) and Medium/Planned Works (£350,001 to £1,500,000), all excluding VAT. • Carry out typical jobs such as new sockets and electrical upgrades, flooring replacement and repair, curtains and blinds, locks, signage, painting and decorating, fire stopping and compartmentation, roof replacements, pipework and window replacements. • Demonstrate the ability to provide and coordinate a wide range of skilled building and service trades.
Lots
- Electrical Value Band £1 - £50,000 excluding VAT
- Flooring Value Band £1 - £50,000 excluding VAT
- Minor/Reactive Works Value Band £1 - £50,000 excluding VAT
- Minor/Small Planned Works - Value band £50,001 - £350,000 excluding VAT
- Medium/Planned Works - Value band £350,001 to £1,500,000 excluding VAT
Requirements
What could rule a small business out: The requirement to demonstrate the ability to provide and coordinate a wide array of skilled building and service trades, together with lots worth up to £1.5 million, would most likely rule out small businesses that offer only one trade, unless they bid as part of a larger group.
Always check the tender documents.
How to bid
This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
Where to apply
The notice doesn't name a website for bids. Ask the buyer how to apply, using the contact on the official notice.
