In plain English

The Ministry of Defence wants a training provider to run a foundation degree in engineering management for senior non-commissioned engineers in the armed forces. Most of the degree is awarded by recognising skills and experience the engineers already have (called Accredited Prior Learning, or APL), rather than through traditional classroom study.

What the buyer wants

• Deliver a Foundation Degree in Science in Engineering Management, mainly through APL, where prior experience is assessed against degree-level learning outcomes. • Assess and verify candidates' existing learning and experience, and provide any supplementary learning needed to close gaps. • Run the scheme for senior engineers across the Defence engineering profession, including enrolment, tutoring, assessment, moderation and certification.

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

The biggest barrier is that a foundation degree can only be awarded by a university or an institution with formal validation, so a small business without degree-awarding powers or a university partner would almost certainly be excluded.

How to bid

This is an open tender: any eligible business can respond directly to the buyer by the deadline, with no framework membership needed.
