In plain English

Transport for London is looking for ecological and arboricultural specialists to conduct surveys, assessments and advisory work on their railway infrastructure, particularly around protected wildlife and designated nature sites. They want to set up a framework agreement with multiple suppliers rather than a single contractor.

What the buyer wants

• Conduct preliminary ecological appraisals, biodiversity surveys, protected species surveys, and habitat assessments using statutory metrics • Carry out arboricultural surveys, impact assessments and method statements in line with BS 5837:2012 • Obtain protected species licences on behalf of TfL and provide Ecological Clerk of Works services • Return all inspection data and ecological findings to TfL in GIS-compatible formats and to Greenspace Information for Greater London

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

This contract requires specialist ecological and arboricultural qualifications, professional memberships, protected species licences, and London Underground security clearance: most small building, cleaning or general trades businesses will not meet these requirements and should not apply.

How to bid

This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
