In plain English
Lancaster University is looking for cleaning companies to join a framework agreement (up to 5 suppliers per lot) to handle various cleaning services across their campus. The work includes deep cleans, emergency response, specialist cleaning of bathrooms and ovens, and upholstery cleaning, split into 8 separate lots so you can bid for what you specialise in.
What the buyer wants
• Provide specialised cleaning services across 8 different areas: full building deep cleans (annual, June-July turnaround), 24-hour emergency response for hazards like flooding or fire damage, deep cleaning of 4,217 en-suite bathroom pods, deep cleaning of 1,370+ built-in ovens, and cyclical cleaning of carpets, curtains, mattresses and upholstery • Meet tight deadlines: emergency call-outs must arrive within 1 hour, full building cleans completed between July and early October for student accommodation • Demonstrate capacity to handle large-scale operations (hundreds of items per cleaning cycle) and work outside normal hours including weekends and 24-hour availability
Lots
- Full Building Deep Cleaning
- Emergency and Hazardous cleaning
- Bulk en-suite bathroom pod deep cleaning

- Upholstery, curtains, mattresses and carpets
- External Cleaning
- Weekend and weekday cleaning and support
- Ad hoc/general cleaning support
Likely requirements
Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.
This contract will disqualify most small one-person cleaning operations because the work requires significant capacity (annual deep cleans of entire buildings completed in tight timeframes, 24-hour emergency response capability, and handling 4,000+ bathroom pods), insurance limits that smaller cleaners often cannot afford, and proven experience with large institutional contracts at university or similar scale.
How to bid
This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
