HealthTrust Europe is setting up a framework, a pre-approved list of suppliers that NHS bodies and other public sector organisations can buy from without running their own full tender. It covers everything from a fully outsourced linen and laundry service to specialist sterile theatre textiles, cleanroom garments, outright linen purchases and laundry equipment leasing or buying, with an estimated total value of £120 million.
What the buyer wants
• Show you can deliver the lots you apply for, from routine laundry and linen hire through to specialist sterile and cleanroom textile services, or simply supply linen or equipment. • For the specialist lots (4 and 5), prove you hold the required accreditations and meet the relevant textile and medical device standards. • If bidding for the Total Managed Service (Lot 1), show you can run the laundering, linen hire, sterile textile and cleanroom services together.

Most small businesses would be ruled out by the accreditation requirements for Lots 4 and 5 and the expectation that Lot 1 bidders can deliver all the other lots, so realistic routes for smaller firms are limited to the simpler purchase and equipment lots (6 and 7A).
