In plain English

The Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Greater London wants a contractor to replace the gas-fired kitchens at two Army Reserve Centres, in Battersea and White City, with new electric kitchens. The work covers removing the gas equipment and pipework, installing a new electrical supply and kitchen appliances, adding lighting and fire alarm devices, and testing the completed systems.

What the buyer wants

• Strip out the existing gas kitchen equipment, gas meters (where within the kitchen) and gas pipework back to the meters, then install a new 100A electrical supply, distribution board, power distribution and lighting. • Supply and install new electric kitchen appliances as shown on the drawings, connect new fire alarm devices to the existing building fire alarm systems, and at White City install a new extract duct from the ground floor kitchen hood to the roof. • Clean the existing ductwork, test the existing extract fans, and test and commission all kitchen systems. Suppliers must also be invited to bid, which requires being on-boarded to the Central Digital Platform and the buyer's Symphony finance system.

Requirements

What could rule a small business out: Bids are by invitation only, so any supplier not already on-boarded to both the Central Digital Platform and the buyer's Symphony finance system will not be invited, and their submission will not be opened or evaluated.
