In plain English
A new Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) is being set up to help public sector organizations across the UK buy construction, works, and professional services from suppliers who prioritize sustainability, ethical practices, and social value. Suppliers can join this 'framework' and then compete for individual construction and works projects posted by buyers in the education sector and wider public sector.
What the buyer wants
• Register as a supplier on the DPS in one or more categories (by service type, geographical location, and/or additional capabilities) • Demonstrate commitment to sustainable, ethical, and socially responsible practices across your business and supply chain • Commit to the Government prompt payment policy for suppliers and subcontractors • Provide construction, works, or professional services (such as design, project management, surveying) that deliver environmental and social benefits
Likely requirements
Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.
Most small businesses will find the application process complex and time-consuming; you must demonstrate serious commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and social value reporting, if your business has no environmental or social policies in place, or poor payment records, you will struggle. Sole traders with minimal compliance infrastructure may be disadvantaged.
How to bid
This is a Dynamic Purchasing System: an open list of approved suppliers. You can apply to join at any time while it runs, and once accepted you can bid for the individual contracts the buyer runs through it.
