YPO is setting up a list of approved electrical contractors to do highway electrical installation work across the UK public sector. They're building a pool of pre-approved suppliers that any public body can call on when they need this work done.
What the buyer wants
• Provide highway electrical installation services (e.g. street lighting, traffic signals, road electrical infrastructure) • Hold current accreditation from the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) or an equivalent standard • Hold current accreditation from the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) or an equivalent standard

Most small electrical contractors will be disqualified unless they already hold both NERS and HERS accreditation. These are specialist qualifications specifically for highway electrical work and are expensive and time-consuming to obtain.
