In plain English

The Office for Students, the regulator for universities and colleges in England, is setting up an open list of approved training and development providers. Once on the list, suppliers can bid for individual courses or support projects covering leadership, professional and regulatory skills, wellbeing and workplace culture, and facilitation and coaching. The list is split into four lots, and an organisation can apply for any or all of them.

What the buyer wants

• Show you can design and deliver training or facilitated sessions in the lot areas you apply for (leadership and management, professional and regulatory skills, wellbeing and culture, or facilitation and coaching) • Provide evidence of relevant past work, such as case studies, client references and examples of materials you have produced • Explain how you would tailor learning to the regulatory context, drawing on recognised frameworks such as the Core Regulatory Skills Framework where relevant

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

Most small businesses would be held back by a lack of documented experience delivering to regulators or large public bodies, or by insurance and financial thresholds that a very small firm may not meet.

How to bid

This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
