In plain English

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is hiring an independent advocacy service to help people who need support with mental health decisions, capacity issues, care rights, and complaints about health services. The service will operate across the region and potentially outside it.

What the buyer wants

• Provide Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA): support people with mental health decisions • Provide Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA): act as a Litigation Friend for people who lack capacity to make decisions • Provide Independent Care Act Advocacy and Carers Advocacy: help people understand their rights under care laws • Provide General Advocacy and Independent Health Complaints Advocacy: support complaints and general rights issues • Deliver services both within East Riding of Yorkshire and in other areas as needed

Requirements

What could rule a small business out: This is a specialist statutory service requiring accredited advocacy expertise, trained staff with legal knowledge of mental health and capacity law, and registered charity or professional body status: most small trades businesses will not meet these requirements.
