In plain English

North Somerset Council is setting up a long-term supply list (called a Dynamic Purchasing System or DPS) for highway and road maintenance work. You can join one, two, or all three specialist areas: civils work like drainage and flood protection; surface treatments like asphalt and sealants; or structural repairs to bridges and walls.

What the buyer wants

• Provide specialist labour and materials for highway maintenance, drainage, road safety improvements, and active travel schemes (Civils lot) • Supply and install surface treatments including micro asphalt, slurry sealing, high friction surfacing, and crack sealing (Surface Treatments lot) • Carry out repairs, maintenance, and improvement works to bridges, walls, and other highway structures (Structures lot)

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

This is a large, open-ended framework for councils to call off work as needed. Most small single-trade businesses (electricians, plumbers, painters) will be disqualified unless they specialise in highways civils, road surface treatment, or structural bridge work. You also need significant insurance, safety systems, and proven track record with local authorities.

How to bid

This is a Dynamic Purchasing System: an open list of approved suppliers. You can apply to join at any time while it runs, and once accepted you can bid for the individual contracts the buyer runs through it.
