In plain English

Cheshire East Council is creating a framework to hire builders and contractors to adapt homes for disabled people. The work is split into four geographic lots covering South and East Cheshire, including building alterations (foundations, electrics, plumbing, kitchens, bathrooms) and external works (fencing, handrails, doors).

What the buyer wants

• Complete domestic building alterations including site prep, walls, roofs, insulation, doors, windows, internal finishes, electrics, plumbing, heating, kitchens and bathrooms across South Cheshire or East Cheshire depending on lot awarded • Complete external works including groundworks, fencing, external handrails and external doors across South Cheshire or East Cheshire depending on lot awarded • Work must be tailored to disability adaptations to help vulnerable residents live safely and independently in their own homes

Lots

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

You must be able to work across either South or East Cheshire consistently, handle complex disability adaptations work, have previous experience with vulnerable residents, carry appropriate insurance, pass DBS screening, and likely need to demonstrate understanding of Building Regulations and accessibility requirements. Sole traders without safeguarding experience will struggle.

How to bid

This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
