In plain English

The UK government is setting up a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) to buy energy demand management and renewable energy services and products. Suppliers can register to be on a pre-approved list and compete for individual orders over the next 5 years. The total estimated spend across all orders is around £800 million, but there's no guarantee any individual supplier will get work.

What the buyer wants

• Register on the CCS supplier portal with a valid DUNS number • Complete and submit a response to their selection criteria questionnaire • Demonstrate your capability and experience in demand management and/or renewables services • Comply with their terms and conditions for the DPS agreement

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

Most small one-person or micro businesses will struggle because you must have a DUNS number (costs money to obtain), formal company registration, and likely need to demonstrate significant previous experience with energy/renewables projects on a commercial scale.

How to bid

This is a Dynamic Purchasing System: an open list of approved suppliers. You can apply to join at any time while it runs, and once accepted you can bid for the individual contracts the buyer runs through it.
