Dwr Cymru Welsh Water is buying regular and one-off haulage of sludge cake, the dewatered solid left after sewage treatment. Work covers moving it between its own sites and treatment works, and taking it to approved farmland and other authorised destinations. The contract is split into four regional lots (North and South Wales, intercompany and cake-to-land), and suppliers can bid for one or more.

What the buyer wants

• Collect and deliver sludge cake between Welsh Water sites, treatment works and storage points, on both planned schedules and ad hoc calls. • Deliver sludge cake to approved agricultural land and other authorised destinations, including tipping and stockpile management where required. • Operate suitable vehicles, using Welsh Water's skips and specialist trailers, and meet the operational, maintenance, safety and environmental compliance duties that apply to waste haulage.
