In plain English
Wolverhampton City Council wants suppliers to survey, supply, install, maintain and repair specialist mobility equipment in people's homes, including stairlifts, through-floor lifts, lifting platforms, ceiling hoists and modular ramps. The work supports elderly and disabled residents to live safely and independently, and is funded through Disabled Facilities Grants and Council housing adaptations. The contract is split into five separate parts (called lots), each awarded to a different supplier, with an estimated total value of £4,000,000.
What the buyer wants
• Survey, design, supply, install, test, commission and certify the equipment in occupied homes, including any associated structural, electrical or building works • Provide planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, emergency breakdown attendance, repairs and replacement parts for the equipment • Remove, store, refurbish, relocate, reuse or recycle equipment where required, and provide user demonstrations and warranty support
Lots
- Stairlifts
- Through-Floor Lifts
- Powered Lifting Platforms and Step Lifts
- Ceiling-Track Hoists
- Modular Ramps
Requirements
What could rule a small business out: The notice asks for suitably qualified and experienced suppliers, a separate full quality and commercial response for each lot bid for, and emergency breakdown attendance, so a small firm without lift or ramp installation expertise, certification or capacity to respond to breakdowns is likely to be ruled out, and the Council does not guarantee any minimum volume of work.
Always check the tender documents.
How to bid
This is an open tender: any eligible business can respond directly to the buyer by the deadline, with no framework membership needed.
