In plain English

Cambridgeshire County Council is building a 10-year approved supplier list (framework) for residential care homes, nursing homes, and specialist dementia care facilities. Any care provider can apply throughout the framework period, with applications reviewed roughly every 6 months. This is a very large contract worth around £555 million over the decade.

What the buyer wants

• Provide residential care beds (basic support and accommodation for older adults) • Provide nursing care beds (medical support and accommodation) • Provide specialist dementia care in both residential and nursing settings • Meet all CQC registration and health & safety standards

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

This contract is open only to registered care home operators with CQC registration, self-employed tradespeople, small contractors without care home experience, or providers without existing care sector infrastructure will not be eligible. The council can call off care from any approved provider, so you must already be operating residential or nursing care homes.

How to bid

This is a framework: the buyer picks a set of suppliers now and awards work to them over several years. If you are not on it when it is awarded, you usually cannot win work from it until it is re-tendered, so this is the window to bid.
