In plain English

Sheffield City Council is setting up a new system to buy adult learning and skills training courses delivered in community settings. They want suppliers to help deliver education for adults aged 19+ across South Yorkshire, funded by the Adult Education Budget, starting August 2023.

What the buyer wants

• Deliver adult learning and skills courses in community settings (not necessarily in dedicated training centres) • Support adults aged 19+ to improve their skills, find work, or progress in their current jobs • Work within Sheffield City Council's Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), a framework that allows the council to call off training services as needed • Potentially provide courses across South Yorkshire to residents of the region

Likely requirements

Our reading of the notice. Always check the tender documents.

This contract is only open to training and education providers, if you are a tradesperson (electrician, builder, cleaner, etc.) offering your own trade services rather than adult education courses, you cannot bid. You must be able to deliver formal adult learning programmes, which requires institutional infrastructure, staff, and funding accountability most small tradespeople do not have.

How to bid

This is a Dynamic Purchasing System: an open list of approved suppliers. You can apply to join at any time while it runs, and once accepted you can bid for the individual contracts the buyer runs through it.
